Axel Pahlavi has taken a photo of a scene which has particularly touched him. At his home a friend’s daughter dressed up as Santa Claus takes her newborn in her arms and sits on his bedside. Four years later he began painting a copy of this picture. And then, by a slow and detailed work which takes its inspiration in Dutch painting, a hidden and symbolic meaning of the scene is revealed to him. Layer after layer he can discover it and bring us to see it. At the same time his copying work is gaining a new and intense significance. This painting sums up particularly the artist’s personal approach full of fervour and humility.
